Hi. I'm Brittany.

I'm a brand designer & a writer saved by grace, sharing joy in the simplest ways.

the blog is back!

the blog is back!

Hello, sweet friends! The blog is back. Can you believe this right now?? I'm so excited to be able to share this new blog space with you. If you've followed along over on That's Pretty Ace, you may have noticed that the atmosphere there has shifted a bit in the last year. Let me unpack that a little bit.

In August of last year, we moved to Austin and I began seminary school. Blogging (very sadly) fell by the wayside as I processed all of these changes – AKA, the industrial forklift of emotional baggage that somehow snuck into our moving boxes.

An amazing surprise to me and a reminder of God's good grace, I also began getting more and more brand and website design jobs through That's Pretty Ace. God's providence in this, as His providence tends to be, has been incredibly sweet, maintaining the opportunity for me to work from home and be mobile enough for Chris's job opportunities. When the conversation began to grow around us starting a family sooner than expected, we saw this provision coming into play even more. That's Pretty Ace, as a site, began to focus solely on my design work, making what I do more clear for my current and potential clients. This site content transition would not have been so seamless if I had been blogging as consistently as I had been before our move. I had mourned not blogging, and little did I know, God has something else good in mind. Looking back now, I am shaking my head at how God was lining things up...

I had purchased "BrittanyKnight.com" years ago, thinking it might be good to have at some point (or at least to have and not use – so that no one else could use it and cause any confusion). All during my time in Austin, I contemplated how I could return to blogging in a way that wouldn't interfere with the wonderful things going on at That's Pretty Ace. And that's where I realized BrittanyKnight.com had had a purpose all along.

Logistically, I've moved over all of the old blog content to this site – so everything we had before is still together, right here. Naturally, there will be some bugs in this and I would love your help! I've gone through and tried to update all of the blog post links to direct properly (part of what took so long to launch). If you catch anything not working properly, please let me know. I'll get it fixed!

Design-wise, the look and feel of this new site is better suited to reading – the set-up has a bit of a newspaper feel, with blog posts presented like articles, and plenty of uninterrupted reading room. The overall focus is much simpler, directing you to the content instead of sharing it with my design work and trying to somehow explain how I do "all of the things." The simple, calming personality that I love (and have heard from several of you that you love! thank you!!) at That's Pretty Ace has been translated in a way that is entirely appropriate for a site focused solely on words.

This new site is so exciting to me, but most of all, it has granted my heart so much peace. It feels so much more like what I'd always hoped my writing could be for you – a safe place, that feels more like a journal or sitting down with a friend over two hot cups of coffee.

I'm honored to get to share this space with you, and hopefully share some more vulnerable writing that's been stirring in my heart for years. I'm praying that the words shared here are encouraging and sharpening to your soul. I think Paul states it perfectly in 1 Timothy... "Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen."

As always, let's share joy.

it's not me, it's you.

it's not me, it's you.
