Hi. I'm Brittany.

A Fresh Space

Next weekend, we will be moving into a new apartment...! We were looking for something a little cheaper, but still in the same area and found exactly what we were looking for just down the street. Moving isn't necessarily fun, but it's made me think a lot about the things I want in a home.

The past year, I've been so restless with the "stuff" we've accumulated. Chris's study space is overflowing, I hang up art and move it around like nobody's business, and sometimes I feel like our space is so dark. I feel guilt from making purchases and then feeling like the item isn't quite "right" for our space. We just have so much that we don't need. I'm desiring much, much less.

I wrote down what I was looking for: beachy, relaxed vibe. Light and airy. Less stuff, de-clutter... more meaningful artwork. I even wrote down "I'd rather have a vase on a table with fresh flowers each week than a table full of knick-knacks." I've had some gallery frames sitting in our closet for a few months now and decided now was the time to invest in pictures (only $15 total from mpix!). They're all old family photos, pictures from our wedding, or pictures from our travels, and it makes my heart so happy. I printed out a Bible verse print I made - Kinko's, $2 - and added that to the mix as well. I took all of the books and little storage boxes off of our dresser and replaced them with a tray with candles - now I want to sit in bed and work all the time! It's so soothing in there.

Also, all of the images in this post are from Caroline Joy's Instagram feed. I recently stumbled upon her work and this girl - she's saying some things that have been on my heart for months and taking action! You should check her out. And hire her and her hubby to shoot your wedding.

So... less is more. I'm going to keep repeating this one to myself: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." Thank you, God!
