Green Machine


I've been on a major smoothie kick lately. It's become part of my morning routine, and I alternate between a tasty berry/peanut butter mix and a citrusy sunshine blend. However, I know I could be sneaking a lot more nutrients (and veggies!) in there... but I've been a little wary. So a few days ago, I decided to get crazy. 

It turned out so good. PRAISE! 

I'm running a 5k next week, and I'm thinking this will be the perfect fuel to get me going. PS - anyone else running the Celebration White Rock? If you're interested, you can still sign up! Plus there will be music & food trucks at the end. Running towards food is a great motivator for me.

(makes 2 servings)

  • 1/2 cup green grapes
  • Slices from 1 medium orange
  • 1/4 cup pineapple
  • 1 banana
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 medium apple, chopped
  • 1 slice of lime (or a couple of squirts of lime juice)
  • 2 cups ice

This bad boy comes out tasting super light and fresh. I could mostly pick up the apple notes - but I'm sure if you play around with the portions, you'll get high notes of different ingredients. You also want to be sure you have a strong blender for this! A good smoothie comes from good chopped ice. We have a Ninja blender, and I want to hug it every day. It also makes good frozen margs and jalapeño ranch!
